Daniela, our technical assistant and lab manager, is testing if the the results from genome data analyzes have any real biological relevance. She is undertaking the study of genetic diversity of key duplicated genes in maize and tomato, while performing experiments in the lab and greenhouses to validate adaptive phenotypes such as resistance to pathogens (bacteria or fungi) or tolerance to abiotic conditions in wild tomato species.
